Orange offer ?200000 prize for 'different business' ideas | PR ...

Everybody?s favourite provider of free cinema tickets, Orange, is launching a competition to look for the UK?s next ?different? business. You may remember Ben and Jerry?s ?Join Our Core? hunt for sustainable business leaders, where 5 winners would each receive??10,000 and support for the sustainable business ideas. This is kind of like that, but more corporate, and worth a comparatively massive ?200,000 to just one winner.

Orange said they think it silly to just hand out a cheque for ?200k, so the prize breaks down into:?investment capital, legal advice, business planning advice, mentoring, and marketing consultancy, all of which will be provided by competition partners including accountants Kingston Smith, ad agency Publicis Chemistry and law firm Lewis Silkin.

All entries will be judged by bosses from each of the above companies, and need to be in by the 31st March. A shortlist will then be announced on the 30th April, giving entrants the chance to prepare a 2 minute elevator pitch video they have to get in by the 11th. The winner will be announced on June 1st.The competition is only open to UK residents aged 18 years or older. The business address/proposed business address must be UK-based.

Those interested in finding out more or applying can do so at?Win Your Business.

This is a nice PR idea, clearly aiming to reach lucrative potential business customers and while there?s just one winner, encouraging people to consider new business ideas in what is obviously a pretty shoddy economic time can only be a good thing, both for Orange and UK business.
